The motor is matched to 4.X MW platform doubly-fed wind turbine, with excellent low noise and high efficiency. The rotor shaft at the drive end is connected to the medium-speed gearbox through a coupling to drive the generator. The stator is directly connected to the power grid, and the rotor is connected to the power grid through a four-quadrant converter, which can supply power within +/-38% of the synchronous speed and regulate the power factor of the power grid. The innovative air-to-air cooling design eliminates the need for an air-to-water cooling system for the unit, which helps to boost the market share of 'feed-in tariffs'.
